A few pictures from the Crewe open day on Saturday 10th September.

Myself and my dad, Dave, took a trip to the annual Crewe works open day last weekend. What a fantastic showing of locomotives, steam and diesel, plus a chance to have a look round the extensive Crewe works.

I am not an expert on the locomotives pictured, however please email us or drop a guest book if you know what they are.

The day is highly recommended, not all of the engines are static, the majority of the steam engines were in steam, and one or two were moving around the depot on their own steam. The smell of live steam, it cant be beat! Plenty to see and do through the day, I will keep you updated about next years event. I wont miss it!

PS - Thanks to my dad for the pictures and for paying me in!

One of the original 1500 DC electric locomotives from the Woodhead route.
The Union of South Africa.
I think this is a Black 5. It was taken in Crewe station and we saw it by chance waiting for our train home to Mauldeth road in Manchester.
Some of the steam locos on display. There were a couple of Duchess class locos in the line up. What a site!
