Bacup to Rochdale (Newline).

March 2007.

Starting the picture trail from Bacup Station, by chance we got a picture of the old railway station at Bacup the first time we did a ride up to Bacup, the big blue building (in the middle of the picture) is built on the site of the old railway, the stone wall surrounding it, is all that is left of the original building.

Below pictures taken March 2007 of the station.

Below - you can see the line leave the Bacup Station.
Below - Taken from the same place with the line going to Rochdale.

Left - A missing bridge at the corner of Old lane and Quarry Street.

Unfortunately this is where my camera pack up focusing, so we switch to my mobile phone camera which is not the best (At least this mean we now have an excuse to do this ride again.)

Left - Another missing bridge this time at Oak Street. At this point we lost the line until we pick it up again off Station Road at Whitworth. Where the line ran down what is now Cowm Park Way North and onto Cowm Park Way South and onto Massey Croft.

Below left - Picking the line back up after Massey Croft.

Below - Broadley Station.

The below eight pictures are of the 105 foot Healey Dell viaduct with its 30 foot span of the arches above the river Spodden, all kindly taken for us by Rob again.

The line comes out onto Champion Way.

There is a lot more to do on this line put with limited space on the camera phone this is all we got until we do the ride again.
